Enable User Role Restrictions
While reactions are typically visible to all site visitors, the DaReactions plugin allows you to restrict the voting functionality to specific user roles. This feature is useful for controlling who can actively participate in reacting to content, ensuring that only designated groups of users can submit reactions.
How to Set Up User Role Restrictions
- Navigate to Role Restriction Settings:
- Go to Reactions ยป Reactions Manager in your WordPress dashboard.
- Enable Restrictions:
- Look for an option or section labeled Enable restrictions by user role. Select or toggle this option to activate role-based voting restrictions.
- Configure Role Permissions:
- Upon enabling restrictions, a list of all user roles configured on your site will become visible.
- Select each user role that you wish to grant voting permissions. You can pick and choose roles one by one according to who should be allowed to vote.
Considerations When Restricting User Roles
- Transparency: It's important to communicate any restrictions to your site users to manage expectations and prevent confusion about who can vote.
- Flexibility: This setting offers flexibility to cater to different types of content or sections of your site. For example, you might restrict voting to registered users only on certain sensitive topics to prevent spam or ensure that feedback is meaningful and accountable.
- Custom Roles: If you have custom roles configured on your site, these will also appear in the list, allowing you to tailor the voting permissions even more specifically.
By implementing these restrictions, you can maintain greater control over the interaction dynamics of your site, enhancing content security and relevance of the feedback received.
